Protect electronics with surge control and stable power. Nigeria's grid and generator switching cause spikes that destroy TVs, fridges, and circuit boards — the right accessories are as important as the appliances themselves. AVR vs surge protector AVR (Automatic Voltage Regulator): keeps output near 220 V when input swings between 170–260 V — essential for fridges, freezers, and AC compressors. Surge protector: clamps brief spikes — good for TV, decoder, and gaming gear; does not fix chronic low voltage. Sizing by appliance Fridge / freezer → 500 VA–1000 VA dedicated AVR 1–1.5 ton AC → 2000–3000 VA stabilizer TV + decoder + soundbar → 800–1000 VA surge strip or AVR Look for joule rating 1000+ on surge strips Best practices...

Front-load and top-load washers differ in water use, ergonomics, and price. Match drum capacity to family size and power availability — every machine at Agu Brothers is 100% brand new. Front load vs top load Front load: uses less water and detergent, gentler on clothes, stackable with dryer — requires bending or a raised pedestal. Top load: easier loading without bending, faster cycle options, often lower purchase price — uses more water traditionally. Capacity guide 6 kg: 1–2 people; small flats 7–8 kg: family of 3–4; handles bedsheets and daily clothes 9–10 kg: large families, duvets, shared housing Fill to about 80% of drum volume — clothes need room to tumble. Specs that matter in Nigeria Spin speed 1000+ RPM...

Split and window units differ in noise, installation, and efficiency. Correct tonnage and inverter technology matter most in Nigerian homes — undersized ACs never catch up; oversized units leave humidity high. Room tonnage guide Up to 12 m² (small bedroom) → 0.75–1 ton (9,000–12,000 BTU) 12–18 m² (standard bedroom) → 1–1.5 ton 18–25 m² (large bedroom / small living room) → 1.5–2 ton 25–35 m² (living room) → 2–2.5 ton 35 m²+ → 2.5 ton+ or multiple units Add 10–20% capacity for west-facing windows, top-floor flats, or ceilings above 3 m. Split vs window AC Split AC: quieter indoor unit, better for bedrooms, requires professional installation — preferred for long-term home use. Window AC: single unit, easier retrofit, noisier, often...

Choosing the right television improves comfort, picture quality, and long-term value. In Nigerian homes, also factor in power stability, room size, and how you watch — DSTV, streaming, or USB media. Screen size and viewing distance For Full HD (1080p), sit about 1.5–2.5× the screen diagonal away. For 4K UHD, you can sit closer — roughly 1–1.5× the diagonal. 32″ TV → 1.2–2 m viewing distance 43″ TV → 1.5–2.5 m 55″ TV → 2–3 m 65″ TV → 2.5–3.5 m In Nigerian apartments, 43″–55″ balances immersion and space. Measure wall width before buying. Smart TV features worth having Built-in Wi-Fi or Ethernet for Netflix, YouTube, and Prime Video At least 2 HDMI ports — one for decoder, one for...

4K UHD offers four times the pixels of Full HD. Whether that matters depends on screen size, viewing distance, and what you watch — DSTV, streaming, or offline USB media. When 4K makes a visible difference Screen 50″ and larger viewed from normal sofa distance Netflix, YouTube, and Prime Video in 4K on a stable connection PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X gaming Close seating in compact living rooms When Full HD is enough 32″–43″ TVs in bedrooms at 2 m+ distance Most DSTV channels still broadcast in HD, not 4K Budget-focused setups where size matters more than pixel count Slower internet that buffers on 4K streams Technical considerations Look for HDMI 2.0+ ports for 4K at 60 Hz. HDR...

Automatic Voltage Regulators (AVRs) keep output near 220 V when the grid or generator swings between 170–260 V — common across Nigeria. They differ from simple surge strips. What an AVR does It continuously boosts or bucks voltage so connected appliances see stable input. Refrigerators, freezers, and air conditioners have compressors that overheat and fail on sustained low voltage. Sizing by appliance Fridge / freezer: 500 VA–1000 VA dedicated AVR 1–1.5 ton AC: 2000–3000 VA servo or relay AVR TV + decoder + soundbar: 800–1000 VA surge strip may suffice; AVR for village feeds Whole room: Central stabilizer sized to combined running load AVR vs surge protector Surge protectors clamp brief spikes — they do not fix chronic low voltage....

Drum capacity is listed in kilograms of dry laundry. Picking the wrong size means either wasted water and power or endless second loads. Capacity by household 6 kg: 1–2 people; small flats; light weekly loads 7–8 kg: Family of 3–4; handles bedsheets and daily clothes together 9–10 kg: Large families, duvets, or shared housing 10 kg+: Commercial laundry or very large households Do not overload Fill to about 80% of drum volume — clothes need room to tumble. Overloading strains the motor, leaves detergent residue, and wears bearings faster in hard-water areas common across Nigeria. Water and power Larger drums use more water per cycle unless you choose eco modes. Inverter motors on front-load models reduce vibration and peak draw...

Chest freezers preserve stock for retailers and bulk-buying families. Simple maintenance prevents frost buildup, compressor failure, and spoiled inventory during power outages. Daily habits Minimize lid open time — organize with baskets and labels Do not overfill; airflow around walls maintains even temperature Wipe door seal weekly — dust causes gaps and ice at corners Keep freezer level so the lid seals evenly Defrosting Manual-defrost models need defrost when ice exceeds 5 mm on walls. Transfer goods to another freezer or insulated cooler. Unplug, let ice melt naturally — never chip with sharp tools. Dry interior before restart. Power outage protocol A full chest freezer stays cold 24–48 hours if unopened. During long outages, avoid opening the lid. When power...
